End users write original software reviews based upon their experience with the software. They contain both the good and the bad and are an invaluable source of information for other software shoppers. Reviews that are not valid can be a result of many reasons, ranging from genuine satisfaction and a balanced experience to shady motives.

Vendors are encouraged to respond to all reviews, even those with negative scores, as it is a great opportunity to show that they are paying attention and interested in their customers’ comments. Vendors should not attempt to influence reviews through the inclusion of an obligation to not disburse in contracts with customers since this is a violation of federal law.
